Beautiful setting and great access to Middleton Place Some of the areas could do with some TLC, dirty floors, windows and dusty areas in the lodge - has huge potential to be something extrodinary.

Very relaxing place to get away

Outdated, the bathrooms are not well kept and stuffy. The tiles are full of grime and black

Beautiful views of the Ashley River and marsh! Our room was very clean and roomy. Our air conditioning worked perfectly and kept our room very cool. The Inn is peaceful and perfect for a relaxing getaway. We enjoyed the inclusive breakfast that had a variety of options from yogurt, eggs, bacon, and delicious grits. Cocktail hour was nice with free cheese and crackers. The Middleton Gardens are breathtaking and touring the plantation anytime you want is a plus. Dinner at the Middleton Restaurant was delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. You can even book a horseback ride. Definitely recommend and will return.

Room was large and clean. Everything worked as it should. Bed was comfortable, but for some reason it always felt really hot at night (user error? Ecomode on the AC? Not sure why). Views of the river are very nice. Staff friendly, polite and accommodating. Breakfast was honestly a huge letdown. It was basically standard cafeteria quality, what you might find at a hotel at half the price point. Didn't even bother eating breakfast on our second day. Wish they chose to rebuild the dock; would have been nice to sit out on the river. You can see the place is aging and needs some infrastructure upgrades.

Beautiful, quiet, great for a peaceful getaway. Restaurant was very nice, loved the breakfast at the Lake House!!

Great garden and rooms are quirky but great. Swimming pool was shut and breakfast on a weekday was poor owing to poorly stocked buffet as there was a conference on. Visited ten years ago and breakfast was a highlight then.
-
No hot water in the shower, the bathroom door did not shut at all, mold on the walls and ceiling in the bathroom, we were basically told there was nothing they could, no other room available, and because we booked thru Expedia they refused to discount the stay.

Beautiful, peaceful property. Comfortable beds and friendly staff. We loved being able to tour Middleton Place and Grounds too, included with room!

The property was not accurately described. The rooms are very dated. Missing wood panels on walls, the bathroom door was an oversized plywood pocket door that was hard to push open and closed. There was no hot water in the shower or sink. Mold in the bathroom ceiling Very overly priced for this resort. The concrete stair up to the room were very steep. And not up to modern codes. The free breakfast was ok.

Exceptional

The ambiance of the entire place was fantastic, walking to the restaurant at sunset and walking back after dark, peaceful and safe. The multi-course meal with wine pairing was spot on and delicious. Bed slept cozy. Hands down a pleasure to experience. Thank you. This woman from Alaska had a fabulous experience.

Truly atmospheric! Brutalist architecture on the riverfront of a centuries-old plantation! Enjoyed walking the paths, the almost complete lack of pavement, gazing at the river, the sound of the animals in the trees at night (spooky!) The room was spacious, minimalist, completely comfortable. Fine friendly service in common areas. This is not a fancy resort, but a very tranquil and well designed place to stay. I will come back in springtime. A slight musty smell in the room , was a little offputting but i got used to it. In the hot sticky July weather so much condensation on the outside of the windows it obscured the view of the river. Not much to do about it i guess, given the high elevation of the rooms ,up a tall set of stairs, keeping out of the flood zone. I am from the pacific coast so have very little experience with the weather of the south.

There is a lot of potential for a very nice hotel and grounds, but 1987 was a long time ago. I understand blending with nature but grounds are unkept. Exposed electric wires along the walkways. Very tall weeds and grass around trees and post. The Lake House is totally overgrown with weeds and vines the back deck is overgrown and rotted. The room is well designed and quality materials, but has not been touched since the 80’s. Water takes 5 minutes to get warm. The a/c unit located in the closet sounded strained. The filter was so dirty it was being pulled up into the system. I killed 20 centipedes inside the room over two days and pill bugs roamed the bathroom area. There is great potential but will require work to reach. Could be a hidden masterpiece but appears to be forgotten by the owners. I would have loved to seen it when it was managed properly.

We we super excited to come here. The photos we excellent and the perks were just as exciting. However, upon arriving we discovered that many of these perks were not available. We were told by the bartender that there is no longer a night cap (even though it was advertised on the website), there was water leaking out of our ceiling vents and mold was growing along the ceiling because of it, the pool was closed (not mentioned in the booking or on the website and it was obvious that it hadn't been opened in a very long time), the breakfast was dry and mediocre. It was a major let down. For the price we paid for the room we could have visited the Biltmore and had more fun.
