Room too small to get around bed, previous mold stains everywhere. Hardware falling off walls in bathroom.

It's close distance to the barclay center about 11-13min. Walk. Convenient location. Note: no microwave or safety box in room.

They mentioned breakfast, but there was none. They mentioned a cafeteria in the basement, but it only had a microwave, a coffee machine, few coffee cups and 2 vending machines, 1 for chips and the other for juice. The sheet on the bed had long strands of straight hair. No table, nor chair. Thank you

Felt safe and the front desk was very friendly

Reasonably priced, clean room, great location. This is a no-frills place to stay. But it is safe, quiet, and clean. Bed & pillows are comfortable.

Clean. Aggravating that Towels provided were old, very thin and worn. Also stained. Definitely should replace them. We decided not to use them and bought our own towels to use. Also rooms are extremely too small for the price you have to pay.

Terrible place just from the looks of it. We went in there for checkin were asked to wait for 20 minutes for check in. Lookinh at the property in itself it felt super shady and not gre

Great Location, Polite Staff, Clean Room and Air Condition was highly functional

The Essence Hotel is a bare bones place to spend the night. Our room was small and had some unfinished maintenance items. The trade off is that the pricing was significantly better than nearby hotels, so it's a decent value.

Check-in & Check-out were easy. Bed was big for an NYC hotel room. The hallways had a really strong perfume scent. The bed was extremely high off the ground, so it was hard to get in and out of.
-
Very clean and conveniently located. Within walking distance to the Barclays Center. Small rooms, but is to be expected.

The place is not very accommodating.. too small. Bed sheets weren't looking clean. Not enough towels.. Pipes were leaking. Both face basin and shower. That's not a $600+usd room at all. Never again!!!

The room had all I needed. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom

My visit started with no one at front desk for 5 mins while waiting to check in, my room was small as expected. I wasn't expecting walls with scratches on the wall. The bathroom was worse, wall messed up, toilet paper holder ripped halfway off the wall, same with shelf in shower, the air vent had an inch of dust on it. The door to the front of the hotel was broken, anyone could walk into the hotel and get on elevator. I was asked if I wanted my room cleaned up an employee in the hallway cleaning rooms. I said no, later in the day when I returned, I saw all of my towels replaced, so someone went in my room. At one point my key didn't work, and I went to front desk. They fixed it but didn't really verify my id. Kind of scary that someone could have told them my room number and a key would be given. Last, I know it was New York but could hear lots of things on the street and from other rooms. For what I paid, I expected much better conditions.

It was pretty good. Staff was excellent and accommodating. Room could be surprising for how small it was. For the price, and it being nyc, im not surprised but first time nyc visitors would be surprised. Smallest room ever. Free breakfast was, not so good. Apples, yogurt, fruit cups, a couple muffins in plastic wrap, and free coffee. I drank a lot of coffee. But once again, for the price it was appropriate. 4/5

Room the size of a queen bed. Bathroom dirty. Checkin behind plexiglass. No-visitors policy. Other guests clearly audible selling drugs and uh, services from our room. Do not stay here, for the sake of your health, physical and mental.

Location is great, 24/7 coffee/water access was nice, staff was very nice. The room is small, very small. Tv is mounted to where you have to lay sideways in bed to watch, nowhere to sit in the room other than on the bed. Blanket was incredibly thin, not super comfortable.
