It was a beautiful historic property with big room, clean, there were 3 of us booked on the reservation. . Suggest adding more toiletries for multiple guests, a trash can in bedroom, extra blankets, a mirror in bedroom for us girls and softer bigger towels. Breakfast was standard with breads cereal, toast and bagels, eggo waffles, coffee, juice. It was 3 minutes to Sacramento MEMPS where my grandson was shipping out to the Navy.

Everything was great except there was no microwave or coffee maker in the room. Would still stay again though. Location is beautiful and very fairly priced.

This is one of our favorite places to stay near mid-town. It’s walking distance to a couple concert venues. This hotel is so cute and comfortable. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable hotel beds ever.

Good location, friendly staff, charming building and beautiful green outdoor space, free parking.

Very nicely restored with period authenticity. A charming and pleasant overnight stay.

Clean and the staff was friendly

I stayed one night at the Vizcaya Hotel while visiting state offices in downtown. The hostess who checked me in was friendly and pleasant, and the in-room air conditioning worked well. The online photographs present a nicer property than the one I experienced. The room was vintage and tired, and the nightstand light did not work. The bathroom was clean and showed its age. Housekeeping was the larger problem. I found another guest's hairs on the bedspread, a previous guest's makeup on the washcloth, and visible soiled stains on the white towels. Linens that have not been properly laundered are a basic failure for any hotel. I was disappointed in my stay and will not be returning when I need to be downtown again.

Comfortable room at the top of a remarkable set of stairs. The continental breakfast was a nice convenience. I found no problem with the on street parking.

This is a very nice looking Victorian Mansion from the late 1800's and I would love to say good things about it. Unfortunately, it is lacking in so many areas. The place has a pervasive musty smell that cannot be escaped. The rooms lack numerous basics. There was only one very small wastebasket in the entire room. There were no coat hangars in the room. The TV cables were all over the place, as were the numerous power strips that ran pell mell along the floor. The drapes were tattered and torn, and there were no terrycloth bathrobes. The morning breakfast was sub standard for hotels in this price range - they had english muffins and bagels, but no butter and no cream cheese. The choice of cereals was limited to 3 and the other available item was Pop Tarts. I cannot give this place a positive spin - it falls below average.

It was like sleeping in my own bed, I rested well and felt confortable in my room. The claw foot bath was a special treat!

    Property and rooms were beautiful.

Nice breakfast but not really a hotel, more like a rooming house. they do weddings there which you can see using your imagination. However, hard to find, not good for elderly or any accessibility and parking eith down or up stairs, Nerer saw any stuff in the morning even though we were in a house having breakfast.

Very whimsical early 1900s architecture with beautiful trims. Bed was semi confortable. The sink faucet was wonky- never did get hot water out of it. The curtains kept leaving a crack in the middle when I tried to close them- annoying. The shower fixture was non adjustible and no flow control- they really need to update the fixtures Breakfast was adequate however there was NO SALT anywhere. And.... no help was around to be found to ask for some. The hardboiled eggs were dismal w/o salt!!!!! Lots of pepper though! Be ready for lots of stairs at this place, inside and out. No help to get the suitcases upstairs or down. Very limited parking

This is an attractive, historic property in a good area. Primarily a wedding venue. The “standard” room was disappointing. The bed was comfortable, shower worked well. However, the room was somewhat run down and needed attention - broken lamp shades, curtains with holes. I was expecting something nicer.

The Vizcaya is such a hidden gem in Sacramento!! The price is reasonable and the mansion is historic - it is very clean but the old girl shows her age - we considered it part of her rustic charm. The staff is lovely and you cannot beat the location. I booked the penthouse for a staycation, a girlfriend of mine was in town for a birthday celebration. The penthouse is huge with an amazing bathroom. Beds are very comfortable and the staff is so accommodating. The value is outstanding for this historic Sacramento experience - I will definitely stay again for a staycation in the future!

Good location, old house that definitely needs major repairs to call it a boutique hotel. But it was very affordable in a good location. It worked really well for our road trip.

I love staying in Victorian hotels. The rooms are nice and cozy, and everything we hoped for. I was worried about parking, but I found a spot in front with no time limit, which was perfect. My only complaint is that the television screen was too dark, and I couldn't find where to adjust the settings. It wasn't a big deal, so I'm not going to deduct stars. Everything that we wanted to do was within walking distance.

the property was great and room was clean except for the fridge which had old food in the freezer.

  • Engine customer Sep 2026

The trash in the bathroom hadn’t been taken out and there were ants. Appreciated being able to leave the key in the room if we were checking out early.

  • Engine customer Sep 2026

The room had crumbs left on the nightstand when we arrived. The shower had dirty grout. One of the sitting chairs was sunken in. The worst part was one of the beds had a broken box spring so we sank in the middle while the bed-frame creaked all night. It was an okay experience otherwise, wouldn’t stay again.
