The hotel itself was clean and the shuttle took us to the front door. The shuttle was 40 minutes late (I was traveling with two kids so not very “call us for immediate shuttle”). Two other hotels had been around two to three times before Springhill arrived once. The breakfast was not good.

Having to pay for parking your car at the hotel, the last time we stayed we didn’t have to pay.

Our check-in experience was good, and the staff initially seemed friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, our experience changed the following morning because of an incident involving our dog. We were traveling with our shepherd. The next morning, while I was taking him outside, he became startled and barked at a few people who were nearby. He then settled down, calmly did his business, and we returned to the hotel without any further issue. There was no aggressive incident, and the situation was under control. Later, when I was taking my wife and child out for breakfast, a receptionist approached me and stated that our dog was “aggressive” and that he had “no place here.” I found the way this was handled extremely disappointing. I completely understand that hotels have policies regarding pets and that staff need to address situations when there are concerns about a guest’s dog. However, there is a significant difference between a dog being startled and barking briefly and a dog actually behaving aggressively. In our case, our dog was startled, settled down, and behaved appropriately afterward. What bothered me most was the way the situation was characterized and communicated to me, particularly in front of my family. Rather than approaching the situation professionally and simply explaining any concerns or reminding us of the hotel’s pet policies, the receptionist made a very strong judgment about our dog and our presence a
