Second time we’ve stayed here. Walking distance to dorms, restaurants, and an amazing coffee truck around the corner.
-
No hot water bc the hotel was fully booked and the people already there had used up all the hot water. Had to take 2 cold showers. No amenities. Location is convenient to downtown.

i loved this place, will stay again.

Really nice home-y comfortable accommodations! This is not a super sterile generic hotel, it has character and genuinely feels like a home which was exactly what I needed to feel happy and rested when traveling. Most comfortable bed I have ever experienced in a hotel, slept like a rock. Very close to an HEB to easily stock the mini fridge/freezer, fun casual bar next door to grab a drink each night. I saw some reviews about noise from said bar but I didn’t hear a thing, probably because I used the included white noise machine for sleeping. Will absolutely stay again next time I’m in San Marcos!

This was a beautiful home to stay in. We felt like we were in a timeless chateau. The beauty and character of every detail in the decor in this home was breathtaking. The room was like staying in a palace and luxurious comfortable. We will definitely come back again when we are in town visiting our child in college.

We loved the charm of the Thomas house (next door to the Crystal River Inn) where we stayed. The room was beautiful (we stayed in San Miguel) and clean. The bed was comfortable and the A/C worked well. I only interacted with staff through messages in the Expedia app and they were prompt and helpful. We were confused at first as to how to check in but after reading some signs, then going through a back door and reading instructions on a paper that was left on a table, we finally found the building and key then everything was seamless. There was a coffee bar for all the rooms in the Tomas house and they had delicious HEB Cafe Ole coffee and provided cream and sugar packets. In the room, they provided makeup wipes, earplugs (we did not need them on a Tuesday night-it was quiet and calm), and a tray with a glass bottle filled with water and 2 glasses. There was also a fridge in the room. The tub is a tall clawfoot tub that is a little hard to climb into for the shower, but the sink is nearby to help support you. Bottom of shower curtain and bottom of tub a little dirty, but not too terrible. They provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand wash as well as towels for 2 since I was in a classic bedroom for 2. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and loved the decor and charm.

Great find now that our son is a bobcat we have found our home away from home!
-
Great AC, easy parking, right next to my daughter’s sorority house. Could be a little cleaner .. baseboards etc but it’s a very old place and I guess comes with the territory.
-
Gorgeous room with cool ac and everything you could ask for in a historic hotel
-
Room clean and bed extremely comfortable. Decor was a bit dated
-
Room was clean needs updates and repairs. It would have been nice to know it next to an open air bar before reserving a room at least the provided earplugs. Parking was not dark and not well marked. It’s okay for one night

Place is amazing! We stay every chance we get to go visit my daughter at Texas State. Perfect location to everything and you never have to get in the car and drive anywhere.
-
Great location, clean, good amenities. Other guests coming home in the early hours without thought about their noise level not so good.
-
I stayed in July during Texas State orientation and was the ONLY person in the Inn. It was a little creepy but the place is quaint and in the best location.

Perfect location, beautiful property!

Perfect spot in San Marcos

Door was locked to outside when we tried to check in. We were in the Thomas House and I thought we were actually staying in the Crystal Inn pictured on website next door. Bottom floor was business. The bathtub is huge jet tub with a pull out handle to shower and the water sprayed all over the room when you used it. Being 5'4 I had a hard time climbing over the bathtub to get in and my mom had a difficult time. Told person who was texting me that they should change that to regular tub/shower combo. She gave me info on different room could book the next time in the main house on first floor so will try it. Beds were amazing!!! Best I have ever slept in hotel. Room was Cypress Suite and it was beautiful, huge with sitting area. Loved it except being upstairs for my mom to walk and jet tub experience.
