Surfbreak Virginia Beach Oceanfront, an Ascend Collection Hotel

We enjoyed our stay. The view is amazing. It was close to activities plus nobody bothered us. They offered fruit and breakfast bars so that was nice. If I ever go back we will stay here

The stay was fine. Hotel was OK. But then about a week later I started getting telemarketing calls from them wanting to sign me up for “special deals”. It should be illegal for hotels to require your cell phone number for a reservation, then use it for telemarketing later. Not cool.

Great location and friendly staff. However, I’ve never seen cockroaches like I saw in this hotel and the bar below it.

Room was very clean a d staff helpful and considerate.

We really enjoyed the stay and look forward to returning! The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and balcony had a great view.

Absolutely loved it and had a amazing view!

We really like this hotel, especially having a room right in front of the ocean. We also really liked the free coffee and fruit snacks in the lobby, which made it a more homey environment. The main thing that we do not like about this hotel is that the parking is off-site. It is workable, but a little less convenient. This will not deter us though from returning.

Very Friendly Staff

Parking is kind of a pain but the staff was really nice

The staff were great with great attitudes. The rooms were about average, nothing special well reflecting the price, not certain that I would stay here for a higher price during season. Parking was about a block away off property. There is a bar/grill attached to it which is a nice place to eat and chill overlooking the boardwalk/ beach.

The view was nice, but that was about it, the shower had a piss stain, the rest of the bathroom was cracked and gross, bathroom sink was leaking stain below causing bathroom to smell, pool was dirty, the bar they advised was gross drinker tasted like dish water, also what ever cleaner they used for the beds was awful didn’t smell clean, the girl at the front desk gave wrong direction to the parking lot which btw is not attached bc she was looking at her phone that being said this hotel has good reviews while I didn’t get the experience I was looking for based on reviews some people loved it so I’m sure it’s better than my experience possibly got a bad day or week for them when I went but even still I will not be back the two good things was the view and close proximity to stores

Staff was incredibly helpful. Location was perfect. Pool was wonderful. Coffee and light bite was very much appreciated.

Bathtub very slippery, shower handle loose, water too high in toilet, water in shower luke warm. Big room, comfy bed, lots of storage and the view from the balcony is awesome!

Called ahead and requested our room be in the north end of the property and was told they would have no trouble accommodating our request. Instead they put us in the opposite end of the building by the person at the front desk. The room was very worn and not what we requested. The person who checked us in also would not provide my husband with a parking pass, which was also a block away, making it difficult to unload as there was very little parking at the entrance to the hotel. We went back to the desk and requested to speak to the manager and they moved us to the location we had requested, gave my husband an additional parking pass as we had driven separately and the room was much better. Our stay overall once the room situation was resolved was okay. This hotel is very worn and definitely requires updating, and the check-in process is quite difficult. It needs some major TLC. request

I Saw and killed 3 live roaches in my room. It was after 9pm and finding another hotel was going to be impossible, so i just sucked it up. The couch was stained and there was a used thong behind the small chair in the room. The ocean view was great, though.

The view from our room was amazing. The information on the hotel site is misleading. The only lobby amenity is coffee and some fruit. There is no library, no computers, and the lobby is very small. There is no indoor pool. It was quiet and the staff was nice. Lots to do right outside the door. Jets flew by frequently and were VERY loud. We thought it was cool but not all may agree!

I stayed in a room with an ocean view. The views were amazing and close to everything. The restaurant bar on the property was convenient with good ambiance.

Excellent value for beach front

I booked this hotel because the photos looked nice and there were some good reviews. However, what stood out to me was how dirty it was. The lobby and general areas such as the restroom off the lobby wasn't clean. The elevator looked like it had never been cleaned. Hotel needs alot of general maintenance. There's no continental breakfast. The ac unit in our room was really leaking and we ended up being moved to a different room. The bathtub floor was so slippery it was dangerous. Not a great stay at all.
