Excellent location and beautiful decor and very comfortable bed. We loved our stay. These are SMALL things...but not insignificant. The difference between a "10" and an "8": There is no fan in the bathroom. The blow dryer is exceedingly loud. The showers door slide open on their own. The sink (drain) gurgles for several minutes after use. It is also pretty loud, especially in the middle of the night. (These may or may not have been remedied if we had called to the desk. They just seemed too small to complain about and complaining isn't our default....)

My husband and I had a great visit here. The hotel is beautiful and our room was very comfortable. I really enjoyed hanging out in the great room and perusing the books in the library. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The Heathman is iconic and majestic. The upgrade, the bottle of wine, the beautiful room...all wonderful!

Location to the Sneitzer Bar was closed at 9, on a night where all of us old timers were seeing Boz Scaggs, which was over around 9. Would have been nice to have a drink or a dessert. Missed opportunity

Nice room, and building. However, the sofa bed was awful and there were no extra blankets or bedding in the room.

Very clean and bed was very comfortable

When we booked there was no mention of any construction going on, but when we arrived the downstairs restaurant was being worked on the entire time we were there, so we never got to use that amenity. Speaking of amenities- We also booked under Expedia where it explicitly says: free WiFi. Upon leaving we were charged an extra $400 for “amenities” (NONE of which we used) but apparently WiFi was part of that. Even signing onto the WiFi it said “complimentary”, which seems misleading. If you were someone who didn’t have an extra $400 but needs WiFi for your job (like I do), I would stay across the street. Also worth noting if you are tall or a larger person- the toilet/ shower area is a very small space. The shower bar is right at head level with the toilet and sticks out. You have to hover over the toilet just to shut the door. The one saving grace was the coffee shop Azar indulgence downstairs by the entrance. The owner and staff were incredibly kind, and the coffee and chocolates are amazing! Having gourmet coffee on site really helped.

Excellent location for visiting art venues; staff were great No food or drink services while we were there but there are plenty of local places close by, so it was not a problem
-
Staff was great, food was good, Would’ve preferred a room with natural light instead of in interior room.
-
Poor communication between staff, guests, and booking.com. It would've been good to know that the bar & restaurant isn't open during our stay. They need more attentive staff like Mindy.
-
The blankets and towels were stained. Beyond that , the experience was good.

Near train that goes to airport

Bar wasn't open yet but will be. Breakfast was ... adequate.

Hotel beautiful ~ staff very nice and accommodating. Location perfect for walking. Breakfast overpriced.

The hotel was in a great area for us and the staff were nice. We could do a lot in a walking distance of the hotel. The downsides were the bathroom and the door to the room. The bathroom had a funky musky smell and the front door wasn’t sealed at the bottom so you could hear all of the hallway noise. When rooms near us shut their doors it would shake our bathroom door and the slamming noise would travel into our room at all hours. Other than that things were nice and the bed was extremely comfy and clean.

Certain parts of the room were a bit dingy like the doors o the bathroom were all sticky to close. I got stuck in the bathroom for a minute because the door wouldn’t budge. Scuffs and wobbly beside tables. Glass on the tables not the cleanest. Otherwise it’s a stunning hotel. Would definitely stay again. My qualm is, the deposit isn’t fully transparent. I was charged a $300 deposit for a 3 night stay and only got back $193. After looking i got charged an additional $107 for a million Oregon taxes and traveler taxes that i was not aware of. After asking Expedia what additional charges I’d have aside from the almost $1000 i paid to stay there in the first place, they said they contacted the property and were told no additional fees would be needed. Now I’m out another $107?? Wild. That wasn’t okay for sure and should have been disclosed explicitly. When i checked in i was told id get a full refund after checkout of my deposit. Total lie.

I had a little staycation in Portland at the Heathman hotel and it was absolutely lovely. The room service was actually really good, which is hard to find in Portland. The bed was comfortable. The room was great. The only downside was the shower. I hope that they upgrade those soon because it was in need of an upgrade. I got a shower with a disability seat in it so maybe next time it will be a different experience, but I will definitely be staying here again. It was great.

My dear friend from southern California and I met in Portland for a 4 day vacation and we chose The Heathman, due to its perfect location, historical character, excellent service and attention to detail. We were not disappointed. The only bummer was the fact the restaurant is under remodeling, and there is no room service or bar for the next few months but breakfast is served each morning. I love how quiet the building is and the professionalism of all, especially the valet staff. There are so many amazing restaurants within walking distance, our favorite being Dolly Olive just a few blocks away. Also close to Powells, the Pearl District, Rose & Japanese Gardens, Saturday Market, as well as shopping, theatre and the Portland Art Museum (just a block away). Great value. We can't wait to visit again.
