Frequently asked questions
How does Engine help with both guest rooms and meeting space for team offsite hotels in Portland?
Engine helps with both sides of your offsite. For guest rooms, if your team needs 9 or more rooms, Engine Groups handles the room-block booking; for 8 or fewer, you book self-serve. For meeting and event space, you can find and request venues through Engine Spaces, which gives you access to thousands of options across the U.S.
What's the best way to get the team to Portland for a company retreat?
Most teams fly into Portland International Airport, the airport serving the city. If your offsite schedule is tight, you can search Engine for hotels near the airport to minimize transit time. Otherwise, hotels in central Portland put the team close to restaurants and transit for any free time.
What should I compare when choosing a hotel for our offsite?
Start with meeting-room count and event square footage to make sure the property can accommodate your full group and any breakout sessions. Then compare guest-room availability (whether the hotel has enough rooms for everyone) and on-site facilities like dining and AV, which vary by property. The hotels on this list range from about 21,000 to 44,000 square feet of event space, so match the footprint to your agenda.
How do I book a block of rooms for the team?
If you need 9 or more guest rooms, Engine Groups handles the room-block booking for you. For 8 or fewer rooms, you can book self-serve directly on Engine. Either way, you'll get consolidated invoicing and multiple payment options with no membership fee.
What makes a hotel a good fit for a company retreat?
Look for enough meeting and breakout space to support your agenda, and enough guest rooms to house the entire team on-site. On-site facilities like dining, AV, and flexible event layouts make logistics simpler. For example, the Hilton Portland Downtown offers about 44,000 square feet of event space and 21 meeting rooms, while Holiday Inn Portland Columbia Riverfront has about 41,000 square feet and 19 meeting rooms.
Why don't you show rates for these hotels?
Hotels give Engine rates they only allow us to show business travelers, so a public page cannot list them. Create a free account with your work email to see them.
Is Engine free?
Yes. An Engine account is 100% free and without commitment, and you can leave anytime. Sign up with your work email.
