After requesting a room on a high floor, I was given a room on the first floor. At the end of a long, dark corridor, I was given a room that was accessible by an open doorway to the attached public parking garage. Upon entering the second room I was offered, I found a rumpled bed, and the window (that could not be locked) open to a public walkway. I left the hotel after letting the front desk know I was not comfortable staying at the property and requested a full refund. This hotel is completely misrepresented by the photos on their website. It should not be featured by Bookings.com as a recommended hotel in San Diego. Do not consider staying at the Porto Vista, particularly if you are woman traveling alone.

Location and some staff Had plumbing problems and although eventually moved to another room… they were unwilling to even consider refunding the time we had no access to our room, which was after checkin and evening. Then again the next morning till that days check in.

Property is in a super good location, however I wasn’t informed when I booked that they were doing maintenance and construction. It was extremely loud from our room and made it hard to sleep anytime past 8am. If you plan to spend no time at the hotel this place is okay but bring earplugs if you plan to sleep in! Front desk staff was really nice as well.

There was an amazing bar tender. The first night we got there .
-
Friendly lobby staff , but upon checking in the reservation for a suite I had was not avaible and I was not given a reason why. So I was put in a smaller room which worked , but now I have to deal with the correct charges with my booking company.

Elevators were slow. Room had a musty smell to it. Staff in bar were awesome, great customer service. Food was great. Area around the hotel was excellent, easy to get too within walking distance.

Exceptional

close to the train station and ballpark, and lots of eating places! I was hoping it had a microwave. The little refrigerator did not have a temperature control knob and it kind of froze some food.

The location was the biggest plus. Being downtown made it easy to walk to the popular nearby spots, which was convenient for a short visit. For the price I paid, it was a decent option for a one-night stay. The room was basic but worked for the night, and having a view wasn’t a priority for me. The room felt more like an older motel than a hotel, and the noticeable, unpleasant smell was the biggest downside. It didn’t feel up to the same standard as other beach-area hotels I’ve stayed at. I wasn’t expecting luxury for the price I paid, but a fresher-smelling, more inviting room would have made a big difference—even for just one night.
