La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Santa Cruz

The location, the room was clean and the property was modern. Staff was very accommodating when we asked for a first floor room close to the pool. Breakfast was decent We asked for a first floor room so that we could be close to the pool, however, the amount of noise that comes from upstairs neighbors is very bothersome. First night it woke me and my daughter up and it went on for 2 hours before I contacted the front desk. I had a sound machine on as loud as possible and still it was very disruptive for naps and bed time. So maybe just ask for a room on the top floor? Only 1 tiny lotion. Pool is very small. And the pool towels were strangely small.

Close to broadway Sink stated to flood with black water in the morning. Didn’t receive extra blankets, only one per room. Other hotels never have this restrictions.

In the shower the shampoo, etc. were in dispensers with large letters so I could read without my glasses on.

Right on the beach and safe parking

The front desk person I had was quite absent minded. She forgot to swipe my card to the room number and I had to come back again to get it done. The check in form needed my car number, but I had to go back to the car to get it. She insisted on it, eventhough I checked in with all the information. Quite poor customer service. I was charged a parking fee, which came as a surprise to me since there was nothing about it when I was booking. This place is close to the ocean, but for the price I thought I would have seen the ocean. Overall, not worth the price. There are cheaper options that have free parking and have the ocean view. The hotel was clean and it served the purpose for me, which is going to sleep at night and walking distance from the boardwalk. But the customer service could have been better.

Staying at La Quinta was a great choice, the room was spacious and comfortable and for my first solo trip had everything I needed and more. The included breakfast also helped to keep my schedule together for the day and made for an easier morning. It was within 20 mins walking distance of downtown Santa Cruz, and closer to the boardwalk so for those without a car like myself can consider this hotel a great option to be close to all the sights of the area without having to drive; which was also a major reason for selecting it. All in all, I will be making it my hotel of choice when I come back to visit Santa Cruz.
