Encore Motel Near Marina Del Rey, Culver City & Venice

The motel is under construction and the man who greeted us was very polite and kind and offered to give us our money back if we didn't like the room. It was simple and clean so we stayed. Plus it was quiet at night. There was no hot water in either the sink or in the shower. Hopefully it was just our room and not all the other rooms.

Pros: Amazing service, great location, reliable internet. Cons: Needs work before room conditions catch up to the service. I have to start by giving a huge shoutout to the man working the front desk. He was genuinely the most helpful person I've ever dealt with at a hotel stay! The internet was solid, and you really can't beat the location. It's super close to local shops and dining, plus a very quick and easy bus ride straight to the beach. That said, it’s very clear they are operating while actively remodeling. I understand work takes time, but the room itself had a few major unfinished issues. There was a gap so large all around the front door that I had to line it with towels to keep bugs out. Also, instead of actual curtains, the window just had a piece of black paper held together with clips. The staff and location deserve 5 stars, but the physical room would be 1-2 stars. Lowering their prices while they are remodeling may have made it worth it, especially since it's priced similarly to well-known budget hotels, but I'd recommend giving it a few months before booking here.

Cockroaches. No functional coffee machine. No closets. No bedside lamps. It is in a fairly good location, and I did walk to dinner. However, even after renovation, this will be a questionable facility.

I only didn't like the homeless people inhabiting the perimeter or the area. But glad the workers keep them away.

The guy working was super nice. Like to the point I feel bad leaving a negative review. The motel is being worked on. The noise in the morning is awful. The bags on our windows, the toilet paper not having a holder, the bottom of the door being big enough to slide a pizza box under. This place is a wreck. Parking also sucks and dodging wood on the ground on ladders on the side of the building really sucks when this room was not cheap. I think if prices were lower this stuff could have been slightly more tolerable but we paid a lot to be miserable the whole time.

The location and price was fair. Had an amazing Jacuzzi bathtub.

The motel was under remodeling, and the rooms were partially stripped of furnishings. The manager told me he was processing a refund even before I saw the room or tried to check in. There was no advance information that the motel was having construction, and guests really should have been told beforehand. My 4 or 5 previous stays here were pleasant. But arriving to this situation was disappointing and I was forced to find another motel immediately. I would have to know things were finished and restored before I book here again.

The front desk staff was nice - BUT online pictures looked absolutely nothing like the reality of the location and room. -my curtains were literally trash bags put up with tacks. -light bulbs exposed with the shades. -tin foil put on doors and windows to hide - something, idk why, see pictures. It’s just not a clean and safe place for anyone. This place should be fined for false advertising and lack of care for selling this situation to travelers.

We enjoyed the stay

This definitely a motel. It is under renovation, so maybe (?) when they are finished it will be okay. There were no places to hang towels, no place to hang clothes, and no door frame (so an inch gap under the door). The bed and bathroom were clean. Parking was tight. I would probably not choose to stay there again, especially for the price!

Disappointing

The room smelled so awful that I almost threw up; I barely managed to spend the night there, and I will never go anywhere near this hotel again.

When I arrived I was told by staff that the images shown online were not the room that I would be getting since the rooms were being “renovated”. Literally looked under construction with pieces of concrete showing and missing around the floor and doorstep. Cold water ran as Hot, shower looked so rough I didn’t even want to bother taking one sadly.

The staff was very accomodating and quick to respond to requests. We were in the area for a wedding and needed to iron our clothes. They were very helpful with all interaction. When we checked they stated they were in the process of remodeling and not everything was up to standard and offered an immediate refund if we were unhappy with the room. If we were staing more than 1 night we pobably would have taken him up on that. Even though things there were in the middle of a renovation, I still expected a little more. There were trash bags being used as curtains and the door to the room did not have extra sercurity latches. There was only the bare light bulb in the ceiling fixture and no side lamps. The refrigerator was small but quaint. You could see where they were going with the renovation, but they should not be renting the room we were in out. It just wasn't ready.
