Great old hotel, nice central location
-
This hotel is in an excellent location. It is old and not remodeled-No air conditioning, no restaurant, no pool. However, the location is so good that I would stay here again. It is very clean and has old fashioned charm. The staff seemed to go out of their way to help.

Nice place. Great location. Very good value.
-
It had all the amenities you need, and even the tub included the salts. Yes, it does not have AC, but going in October it was not needed at all.

It is a charming hotel adjacent to Union Square in a central location. There are plenty of places for shopping and eating. While the rooms are small, the room was clean and well kept and they make the most use of the space. Unique features of my room was a ceiling fan and a soaking tub. A sign in the room offered different types of pillows and other amenities upon request. The lobby features cookies, popcorn, fruit infused water, and a coffee/tea station, which was appreciated. While I only stayed overnight and was looking for a nice, but inexpensive hotel to stay near a BART station, I had the thought that it would be a good location if I was a visiting as a San Francisco tourist.

Very comfortable bed, quiet room, plenty of hot water. Had to go to lobby for hot drinks which was a pain.

The room was nice and clean and the beds were absolutely soft! I think one of the best hotel beds I've ever slept in. The toliet was a bit close to the wall making you have to be sideways to use it but the flush was super powerful. The bar unfortunately was closed during our stay so we did not get to take advantage of that amendity.

Great location and nice lobby. Unfortunately, the lobby bar is closed on Sundays. Rooms are fairly nice and the lack of air conditioning is rarely an issue. Outlets near the bed are awkward to reach (near the floor) but there is a nice power strip on the desk. Chain pull to control fan was not working, so I had to turn the light/fan off to turn off the fan.

It is an enough place to stay for an overnight or a quick weekend in the city. The location is centric and safe. It is an old hotel with updated rooms.

Hotel was very beautiful and clean

Super cute hotel .Staff was super friendly and helpful.

The staff was extremely rude and unhelpful

This hotel is in a super location and yes, they are very clear there is no air conditioning. The window opens enough to get fresh air. The room was very clean with a spacious closet and a full-size deep bathtub (shower above). And there are two specialty coffee machines so you can make your own mocha, cappuccino or just coffee in the morning. They seem to have fresh cookies almost all day which made it so nice to relax for a few moments before another round of meetings or sightseeing. Despite being on the cable car line, in the heart of the city, my room 504 was exceptionally quiet. Great find! I'd stay here again.

Couldn’t be better located for the city centre. Rooms are clean but our beds were small doubles and not really suitable for two. Great breakfast next door at Sear’s.

I enjoyed my stay. Location was very central and easily walkable. There was some construction going on during my stay so it made it hard to recognize from the street as the sign was covered. I am rating it a 4 because there are really no amenities. No bar (was closed), no restaurant, no gym, no A/C, and the parking is a block away. However, I liked the old time charm/character to the place, the bed was comfy, the staff was pretty helpful, even though sometimes I had to wait a bit for the bell hop. When I did food delivery, it always came very quickly to the hotel since the location was central to a lot of places.

We have stayed more than once and keep returning! Love the little bar and full service (complimentary) coffee and tea all day! The rooms are small but the closets are big which is appreciated in a small room. In room fridge is great. The lobby is nice, guests tend to be social and front desk staff and bartenders are friendly.
-
Exceptional staff. Beverages and light snacks complimentary in the lobby. Rooms wonderful. Location excellent. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

It's in a very nice area in the city center. The room was clean, but rather small.
-
Old hotel, under renovation. The room was small but clean, and had all that I needed. Very good location. The staff was very helpful. They have free coffee 24 hours, very nice.

This is the place to stay if you want to be central to the city. You are near stores, the ballpark, some museums and a terrific restaurant opens at 7AM next door (Sears). A cable car drops you off in front of the hotel. The lobby has delicious cookies all day with delicious coffee machines available. The bathroom is tiny, but it has a window that opens so the mirrors does not fog up. I enjoyed being in a historic building and the staff is hard working. They even have a menu of pillow choices! We stayed here because of the location but it had much more to offer. Boutique hotels offer more than chains and it’s very special. You cannot park at the hotel (you drive up the street to the garage) but you can drop off the luggage and then go park. We walked or used UBER the entire weekend because finding a place to park on the street was next to impossible. I recommend this lovely little gem in S.F. for your weekend stay.
