Wonderful property and top notch breakfast though not included with the room. We stayed one night and it was useful for the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Home visit!

It is a very old Hotel, nicely renovated. As a result check-in is confusing & up many stairs. Not very friendly at check-in, but friendly when we left. We were away for a couple weeks and stayed at 5-6 hotels, and this was only one not to have complementary coffee in the morning & and surprisingly was the worst coffee we had.

The history behind the whole complex is fascinating. It is a very nice hotel, and we really enjoyed our stay.

I stayed at this location on my birthday with my two daughters while my husband was overseas. When we went down for breakfast, first there was no seating, then there was only one staff person as receptionist, waitress, chef, and clean staff. We never managed to get a seat before breakfast time concluded. I felt sorry for the employee, but it also forced us to end our stay early because we needed to go get breakfast and check out was 11 AM.

Our stay at Blackburn Inn was one to be remembered with all the history it holds. The room was clean and comfortable but the breakfast, for the type hotel, does not equate. If you stay here, and I recommend you do, go elsewhere for breakfast. It's more like a contential breakfast served at your table. They had run out of napkins so we got brown "service station" paper towels after the silverware was placed on the naked table. The eggs (over medium, scrambled) were cooked to brown and the belgian waffles were nothing more than small, square Eggos. The waiter however, was very nice and knowledgeable about the hotel and the area and offered sites to see and things to do. Don't let the breakfast keep you from visiting The Blackburn Inn.

This place was cool. It is in what used to be a mental hospital. It’s supposedly haunted (I didn’t see any ghosts), so if you find that and the history interesting, you’ll like this place. The property is nice, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The building is very interesting. There are some original doors from when it was a hospital and prison. It’s so cool. Very nice hotel with friendly staff.

Very interesting history with original touches intact — an uncommon stay

Beautiful venue but my stay was difficult because what ever air freshener or cleaner they use was severely overpowering. It caused me to wake with a headache. The room was nice the staff was nice. But I probably would not book again because of the synthetic fragrance being so overpowering. It was in the hallway leading to my room and in my room also. It didn’t smell like a cleaner but more of an air freshener.

Historic site, clean room, a good location.

We had a wonderful experience. Location is great. Close to downtown. Owner was wonderful to talk with. The property is undergoing a beautiful transformation. History of it is incredible.

The hotel is old but beautiful. The floors creak when you walk which adds to the charm. Our only complaint is that there was never any staff available. Checking in took forever because no one was attending the front desk. Every time we went to the front desk, no one was there. Also, every time we called someone, we had to leave a message for a return call. I know they are probably under staffed but it’s not cheap to stay here and it’s frustrating trying to find help.

Great historical building and friendly staff.

This is a very interesting property with historical significance.

We visited for the QCMM, and the location was perfect for it. It is a short walk to/from the train station and to/from downtown. Staff (when available) was very friendly and helpful. We loved the historic building and the grounds! Bed was comfortable. At the steep price we paid for the room, we would have expected more. The furniture showed marks of being older already (peeling paint, scratches, etc.) despite being quite modern. The bathroom lacked essentials (hooks for towels, a bath mat, etc.). At times, you also had to wait quite a bit to talk to a staff member as they seemed understaffed and were often away from the desk.

I thought the historic aspect of the property was good however, if you turn a building into a hotel it needs to have the accommodations of a functioning hotel room. There was no closet, yes there was a small rod to hang things on but no hangers, the furniture in the sitting area was very sparse, no place to set anything down other than the top of the cabinet holding the frig and coffee maker, making little space. Hard wood floors in the two rooms, no rugs at all. The bathroom on the other hand was beautiful and functional. We did have to call for more supplies, very sparsely initially provided. I think staff for the most part were very nice and helpful, several made remarks about the facility that kinda surprised me. I did really enjoy being told the history of the facility, CJ especially was very informative. The bistro was not staffed well and therefore he wait was very long, food was ok, my eggs, over easy were crisp and the yolk was almost totally hard. We went to the Mystery Murder Show which the show itself was good, the actors were great and very interactive. It seemed like this was the 1st time the facility/staff was doing this, we had to wait for over an hour to eat. By the time we got our food most of it was cold and only luke warm at best for one item, very disappointed in the food. No one was going around refilling water or seeing if you needed anything, you were totally on your own. For the price you certainly should have received a good meal and attentive staff. Revamp the rooms to be more comfortable and accommodating, I know that won't happen, but that is what would bring me back. Step up you staff and the bistro. Work on the show too!

We like the location being somewhat close to our venue. I like that the location has history. Our walls were paper thin. There was a wedding party that took over most of the property and we could hear them day and night. They actually asked my husband to get off the porch where he was reading and he did. I also thought our room came with a bathtub, but it was just a shower.

A beautiful place to stay!!!

The building and grounds are beautiful. The team working there is quite helpful. The breakfast I had was delicious. The restaurant was understaffed when I went for breakfast so it took a long time (about an hour) to get my food.. The man working there was trying to take care of everybody and needed help which eventually arrived. He was doing a heroic job, managing the staffing could have been done better to help him not be so overwhelmed.
